What is the HOPEful Engineering Collective?
The HOPEful Engineering Collective is a student, faculty, and professional collective being built at Carnegie Mellon University dedicated to bringing together a multi-generational network that reflects on how we practically center ethics in the future course of the tech industry.
By centering this conversation at a technical university, we hope to elevate the ethical standards of the field by infusing ethics into academic curriculum and research, as well as industry practice. Through engaging in these conversations early on, we hope to encourage the next generation of tech talent to center ethics in their future careers. By connecting these various stakeholders in active dialogue and problem-solving, we hope to ultimately improve the societal outcomes created by technology. HOPEful events and meet-ups center honest dialogue, mentorship, community building, and deep reflection on the practical realities of our work.
